Course Description

This course is designed for eye care professionals who want to sharpen their skills in fitting contact lenses for children, from infants to teens. The course dives into topics like eye development, common eye issues in children, and the unique challenges that come with fitting and managing contact lenses for pediatric patients. We’ll explore different vision problems kids can face and discuss the types of lenses that work best for each situation. Practical skills are presented, like how to educate kids and their families about proper lens care, and how to handle complications to keep their vision clear and their eyes healthy.

Course Objectives

  • Describe the overall development of the eye
  • Determine indications and contraindications for contact lenses in children
  • Recall research conclusions from various studies and trials on contact lenses for children
  • Assess the readiness of a child for contact lenses
  • Develop strategies for properly educating children and their families on proper care
  • Determine simplified insertion and removal techniques

Course Assessment

There is a 40-question test at the end of the course. A successful passing score of 80% is required on all ABO-NCLE continuing education courses in order to earn the designated number of credits. You will know your grade instantly after completing the course.
