Start Your Path to Becoming a Skilled Eye Care Technician
As an eye care technician, you're crucial to supporting the clinical team in optometry and ophthalmology
settings. While OTI does not currently offer formal CPO/COA exam prep courses directly marketed as
Ophthalmic Technician Programs, many of our existing offerings provide the foundational skills and
clinical understanding needed to succeed in the field.
These programs are a great stepping stone as we
explore expanding our offerings for eye care technicians. Individuals looking for comprehensive Ophthalmic
Technician Programs will find that our current courses can build a strong base for further
specialization.

Key Training Programs for Eye Care Technicians
OTI’s training programs are designed to equip you with the essential skills needed for success in optometry and ophthalmology support roles. Here’s how we help you build a strong foundation for your career:

Optician Development Program (ODP)
ODP is designed to build strong optical knowledge in areas like lens types, measurements, frame adjustments, and patient care. This program also prepares you for clinical support roles in both optometry and ophthalmology, giving you the practical understanding needed for your future career.
Onboarding: Training for Eye Care Professionals
This course covers key areas like front desk management, patient communication, and compliance (HIPAA, OSHA). You’ll also get training in pretesting, medical terminology, key instrumentation, and workflow management to ensure you're ready for day-to-day duties.
Optician Simulator
The Optician Simulator is an interactive tool that lets you practice using optical instruments, such as the slit lamp and keratometer, reinforcing skills before you start working directly with patients. This tool helps ensure you're prepared for the hands-on aspects of the job and for any practical exams you may face.
