Course Description
American National Standards Institute (ANSI) supplies guidelines for acceptable prescription tolerances in finished eyewear. Understanding and applying these standards is critical for the final inspection process. This ensures your patients are getting the precision eyecare they deserve, but also prevents unnecessary remakes and misunderstandings with your lab.
Course Objectives
- Identify all categories of lens tolerances including power, axis, prism, base curve, thickness, aberrations, polar axis, and segment twist and location.
- Understand the use, calibration and limitations of devices used to verify power, axis, and base curve.
- Gain confidence in the ability to determine whether a product can be passed, fixed, or must be remade.
Course Assessment
There is a 20-question test at the end of the course. A successful passing score of 80% is required on all ABO-NCLE continuing education courses in order to earn the designated number of credits. You will know your grade instantly after completing the course.
