Program Coordinator

Venus is a Program Coordinator for Learning and Development at Optical Training Institute. She initially joined the team as a Proofreader reviewing and translating Spanish continuing education courses.

In her role as Learning and Development Coordinator, Venus manages the entire course creation process, collaborating closely with authors and editors. Her responsibilities also encompass coordinating course approvals by accreditors and state boards, overseeing course publication on learning software platforms, facilitating course renewals, and providing essential metrics for internal reporting purposes.

With a career spanning back to 2009, Venus’s roles have included positions such as optometric technician, assistant, sales manager, optical supervisor, and team lead. She has thrived in various settings, from private practices and boutiques to corporate retail and contract work, demonstrating her adaptability and commitment to the industry.

Prior to joining Optical Training Institute Venus spent seven years at Luxottica where she excelled as a leading dispensing optician at Target Optical and held the title of EyeMed Captain. In this role she worked many open enrollment events to educate individuals about their vision benefits, community events where she conducted vision screenings for children during back-to-school season and ran pop-up vision clinics. Venus was also a Retail Intelligence Agent for the Luxottica brands Oakley and Ray-Ban in 2017 and a Transitions Change Agent in 2018 and 2019. In 2020 Venus provided assistant tutoring for the ABO, NCLE and NCSORB exams and she also ventured out into freelance work within the optical field. During Venus’s time in Luxottica she exhibited at the Professional Opticians of FL conferences and was a part of their local chapter board. In 2022, she served as a OneSight Ambassador, participating in a mission trip to Detroit. During this mission, Venus and her clinic team assisted in providing free eye exams and eyeglasses to families in need, positively impacting the lives of over 200 individuals. She also remains actively engaged in industry-related volunteer work.

Venus’s extensive versatile background, passion for helping others see and her dedication to advancing the careers of fellow opticians are central to her current role at Optical Training Institute.
