Course Description
Beyond the basic dispensing skills that every NCLE certified optician already knows and uses daily, this course presents more uncommon ocular problems and how they can interfere with or contraindicate contact lens use. Advanced knowledge of conditions, examinations, and treatments is presented. The course helps the ECP to better identify those ocular conditions that may lead to saying “no” to ensure patient safety.
Course Objectives
● Assess contraindicating problems
● Analyze severity of a contraindication
● Determine when to deny lens use when appropriate
● Describes how to educate patients regarding the necessity of “no”
● Prioritize compliance monitoring
● Analyze when safe contact lens use might be achieved
There is a 40-question test at the end of the course. A successful passing score of 80% is required on all ABO-NCLE continuing education courses in order to earn the designated number of credits. You will know your grade instantly after completing the course.
