Strategies for Successfully Fitting Presbyopic Soft Contact Lenses
The purpose of this course is to help educate the optometrist who may be asked by their presbyopic patient “can I wear contact lenses?” With the popularity of contact lenses, there is very little doubt that tremendous potential exists for expanding a contact lens practice in the ever‐increasing presbyopic marketplace. With 78 million baby boomers (those born in the United States between 1946 and 1964) in presbyopia, a large group of potential multifocal contact lens wearers exists. With the multitude of soft lens options, optometrists may be overwhelmed with fitting presbyopic patients into lenses. Let us explore the best approaches to patient education, consultation, and fitting of soft presbyopic lenses, as well as the pros and cons of these lenses.
