Astigmatism is correctable through the use of eyeglasses, contact lenses or surgery. This course will examine the types of astigmatism a patient might have, and will suggest if a spherical or a toric contact lens would be required. The course looks at the specifics of the astigmatic patient and the types of corrections available to the eye care stabilization techniques, the course is designed to broaden the existing knowledge of the ECP who works with contact lenses. Upon completion of the course, the ECP should be able to discern which type of lens will best work, what design features to incorporate and how to verify that lens specifics were met. The course wraps up with benefits, complications and fitting considerations for the astigmatic patient.
